Daniel at ICON.[/caption] Hello everyone, My name is Daniel Peterson, I am 45 years old. I'm married to a wonderful woman that does Quality Assurance for DNA testing. I have two stepchildren, the oldest is getting married in January and the youngest is still attending college. We also have four pets, two cats and two dogs. Seth has encouraged the employees at Mayday Games to blog about our jobs and discuss any thing that you may find interesting. I started working with Mayday Games in November 2013. I did not start working full time for Mayday Games until October 2014. Mayday Games is a very small company and I have many responsibilities. The best part of my job is working with Designers. I am the Lead Developer at Mayday Games. I look at the game from every angle and tear it apart to make sure the finished game is the best it can be. Game Development is not just changing rules, but it also includes Graphic Design decision and determine how players interact with the game, and a lot of play testing to make sure it is just right. The magic moment of my job is when a game is improved by my efforts and the Designer is excited and appreciates the impact I had on their game. That moment makes all the work worth it. I also evaluate game submissions. If you send us a game to look at, I will be the first one to take a peek at it and let you know my thoughts and feelings regarding your game. I'm also over the inventory and the warehouse. It is not as fun and interesting as the Game Development but it has a significant impact on getting games and sleeves to our customers. First , a little information about me. I have worked retail most of my life. I have worked for a small computer company, printing company, telemarketing and some fast food restaurants many years ago. I was a performing musician for over twelve years and played in a few bands. The most successful was a band named Doublewide. We played throughout the Western United States and we played with Nickleback, Flogging Molly, Bowling for Soup, The Marshall Tucker Band, Green Day and Hank Wiliams III. Music was my life and I have seen well over 2,000 bands play live. I have always loved board games my entire life, but music consumed my time, it took all I had. After I stopped playing music, board games slowly became my main passion. I grew up with the mainstream games of Monoploy, Clue, Risk, etc.... I also played some of the war games from the 70's and 80's but I did not develop a passion for them. In my 20's I played a little Warhammer 40K but never relly got excited about it. I really liked Talisman in the early 90's. I played Magic The Gathering and still have some cards from the first printing. In 1999-2000. When I found Settlers of Catan, that was the game that really got me excited about Board Gaming. I couldn't get enough and I started to search out more games at that time. Now 15 years later, I have my dream job. I love what I do and I love that I get to contribute to a hobby that has brought me so much joy and happiness over the years. Daniel Peterson
